About Liberty Bell Jerseys

Hockey jersey customization
done right.

Liberty Bell Jerseys is a one-person hockey jersey customization and jersey rescue shop based in Raleigh, North Carolina. What started as a basement hobby has grown into a full side business serving collectors, fans, and the broader hockey jersey community.

From basement project to side business

The jersey collection started in 2014. I bought a fake Andrew Ladd jersey, got corrected quickly by r/hockeyjerseys, and fell down the rabbit hole from there: authentics, bad customs, legit checks, team details, era differences, and all the weird little things that make this hobby fun.

During COVID, all of the customization shops were shut down. I had purchased a sewing machine years earlier, and decided to jump in and learn how to stitch, using some spare parts kits. After getting more comfortable, I jumped in feet-first to customer customization.

Eventually the work moved from “basement hobby” to a side business. These days, LBJ has a waitlist, a public order status system, community resources, and two local news features to show for it.

What I do now

Most of the work these days is custom stitched jersey lettering, number kits, crest and patch work, nameplate swaps, jersey rescues, and restoration-adjacent projects. I also design and cut kits, maintain a public order status page, and build community resources including the Legit Check Guide, comparison galleries, and how-to references.

Why there's a waitlist

LBJ is still one person. The waitlist exists because this work runs alongside a full-time career, family, and real life. The goal is to keep the process sustainable. Clear expectations and clean work matter more than volume. I'd rather be upfront about timelines than rush something out the door.
